Some collaborations are products. Others feel like conversations that became real. Our Eyes of Calma x Espiritu huarache was born from the meeting of two projects with a shared intention: to bring people back to themselves. Eyes of Calma reminds us that calm is not something you chase, but something you remember. Espiritu creates pieces meant to walk with you as you reconnect to your own spirit. The launch of our collaboration was a celebration of both.
Gathering at Cibeles
We met at Eyes of Calma’s flagship space near Fuente de Cibeles in Roma Norte, a corner of the city where many stories cross paths. Guests arrived slowly—friends of the brand, longtime customers, new faces drawn by curiosity and the promise of a calm evening in the middle of a busy season.
The energy of the space felt soft but awake: music at the right volume for conversation, warm light, and small details that invited people to slow down—objects to touch, phrases to read, colors to rest the eyes on. Our collaborative huarache was there among it all, carrying the signature “eye” of Eyes of Calma and the woven language of Espiritu in one piece.
Calm as Something We Remember
During the evening, Pablo, the founder of Eyes of Calma, shared the story behind his project: how a simple message placed inside a cap turned into a ritual, and how reading the word “calm” over and over becomes a way of tuning into it. His work is about reminding people that calm lives inside them, even when the outside world feels loud.
For us at Espiritu, this felt deeply familiar. Our huaraches are about presence—feet on the ground, steps that connect you to land, craft, and ancestors. Hearing Pablo speak, we recognized the same destination reached through a different path: a peaceful spirit, a quieter inner voice, a more intentional way of moving through life.
Trying On Calm, One Pair at a Time
Guests tried on the collaboration pair, walked around the space, and looked at themselves in the mirror— not just to see how the huaraches looked, but to feel what they represented. Their reactions often went beyond “these are beautiful” into something more personal: stories about needing more calm, wanting to walk more, longing for pieces that carry meaning as well as style.
Conversations flowed easily: about design, about Mexico, about craft, about slowing down. People met for the first time and left with new connections. Others finally met in person after following each other online. In between, there were small shared moments—laughter, hugs, photos, quiet pauses on the sidewalk outside.
