We are Espiritu!
We just recently moved to Los Angeles to set up operations after being in Denver for almost 2 years! The company’s vision and business plan is to relocate and grow in the heart of Southern California.

But first, what does Espiritu mean?
Espiritu comes from Spirit translated into Spanish. The founders started this company after a spiritual trip they took to the south of Mexico that then inspired them to create this wonderful company and also help indigenous communities around the world!
What does Espiritu stand for?
Espiritu is an ethical company that is conscious of the disadvantage indigenous communities face every day. Therefore, Espiritu has created a connection to work with them to create amazing world-class quality products manufactured on a fair trade deal with the purpose of improving their quality of life.
Story….
Espiritu comes from Spirit translated into Spanish. The founders started this company after a spiritual trip they took to the south of Mexico where they met a small indigenous group called “Purepechas” they saw the type of huaraches they were handmaking and fell in love with them immediately. They each bought a pair and continued the trip wearing them.
After they finished the trip and got back to Denver they started getting much attention from locals admiring these “shoes”. Everyone wanted to get a pair and kept asking how they could get one to which the founders couldn’t answer anything except for “I have no idea how you could get some”.
Many people continued to ask so they decided to explore the idea of setting up a fair trade deal with this community. They started coming up with designs and different color combinations for what would be their first season of huaraches. A date was set and they took off to meet with this community and see if they would be interested in developing their designs. After the founders explained to the person overseeing production they saw the interest of growing and creating more jobs.
The original quality and construction of the shoe wasn’t a very good one. The materials they were using were of low quality and therefore not long-lasting nor comfortable.
Both of the founders knew they couldn’t create a company with low quality products. The search to find premier quality suppliers began and so they started traveling around the south of Mexico looking to create the worlds best huaraches.
3 months and 4 quality tests later they decided on suppliers for leather, sole, cushion and designs to begin manufacturing.
